Cookie policy
In this policy we use the term «cookies» to refer to cookies and other similar technologies.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small data file that a website asks the browser to store on the user's computer or mobile device. Thanks to that cookie, the website can "remember" the user's actions or preferences over time.
Most internet browsers support cookies, but users can configure them not to accept certain types of cookies or specific cookies. Users can also delete cookies at any time.
Why do we use cookies?
We use cookies to learn how users interact with the content and to improve their experience when they visit our Websites. For example, some cookies remember the user's language or preferences, so that the user does not have to select them every time they visit our Websites. We also use cookies to track geographic location, so that we can show the user the nearest Shell offices and service stations. In addition, cookies allow us to present specific content to the user, such as the videos included on our Websites. We may use what we learn about user behavior on the Websites to show them personalized advertising on third-party websites, with the aim of offering them our products and services again.
What types of cookies do we use?
First-party and third-party cookies
On our Website we use both first-party and third-party cookies.
First-party cookies are cookies sent from the domain www.signarenergy.com, generally used to identify language and location preferences or to provide the basic functions of the Website.
Third-party cookies belong to other companies and are managed by them (for example, service providers or business partners of Latam Downstream Argentina). These cookies may be necessary to facilitate certain forms (for example, submitting a job application) or to allow some type of advertising outside the Latam Downstream Argentina Website.
Session cookies
These are temporary cookies used to remember the user during their visit to the Website. When the user closes the browser, they disappear.
Persistent cookies
They are used to remember the User's preferences on the Website and remain on the computer or mobile device even after the browser has been closed or the computer restarted. We use these cookies to analyze User behavior, in order to obtain visit patterns and improve the functions of the Website. These cookies also allow us to show the user personalized advertising and to measure the effectiveness of the functions and advertising of our site.
How are cookies used for advertising purposes?
Cookies and other technologies used to place ads, such as web beacons, pixels and anonymous and network tags, help us show the User relevant ads more effectively. They also help us compile aggregate audit data, studies and performance reports for advertisers. Thanks to pixels, we can understand and improve how ads are shown to the User and know which specific ads they have seen. Since the User's web browser may request ads and web beacons directly from ad network servers, those networks may see, modify or set their own cookies, just as if the User had requested to access a web page from their site.
Although we do not use cookies to create web profiles of Users' behavior when they browse third-party sites, we do use aggregate third-party data to show you personalized advertising according to your interests. We do not provide any collected personal data to advertisers. The User can disable advertising outside the site and advertising with third-party information by adjusting the cookie settings. If you disable advertising, it will not disappear from the pages you visit, but the ads you see will not be personalized according to your interests, that is, those specific cookies will not associate the ads you see with your interests.
How are third-party cookies used?
For some of the functions included on our websites, we rely on third-party providers. For example, when the user visits a page in which YouTube videos or links to them have been embedded. Those videos or links (and any other content from other providers) may include third-party cookies. Before accessing the website of any third party, we suggest that Users check the privacy policies on their websites to learn how they use cookies.
How are cookies rejected and deleted?
The user may choose to reject or block all cookies or specific groups of them when visiting the Website, by clicking the cookie preferences shown on our Website. They may change their preferences for the Latam Downstream Argentina Website and/or the websites of any other provider by changing the browser settings. Please note that most browsers accept cookies automatically. Therefore, if you do not want cookies to be used, you may need to take some action to delete or block them. If the User declines the use of cookies, they will still be able to visit our websites, but some of their features may not work properly. If the Website is used without deleting or rejecting cookies, the User accepts that we may use the cookies that have not been deleted or rejected on the User's device.
